Former Sussex captain Rory Hamilton-Brown sma-shed a spectacular century to give Oxfordshire bowlers the pounding of a lifetime in a Twenty20 friendly at Hove yesterday.
The match was played to cement the close relationship between the counties.
But Hamilton-Brown sho-wed no mercy, hammering 117 from just 47 balls with 12 fours and nine sixes.
Former England one-day international Ed Joyce chi-med in with a rapid 41 before retiring himself out.
None of the Oxon bowlers came out with glowing figures, although Liam Manley will be pleased with his 2-31 in four overs.
Karl Penhale took wickets with the last two balls of the innings, Hamilton-Brown and former England T20 World Cup winner Michael Yardy both being bowled.
Sussex’s mammoth total 245-6 was always going to be well out of reach.
But a fourth-wicket stand of 72 between Chris Watling, who hammered 25 runs off one over, and Johnny Cater gave respectability to the score as they ended on 119-5.
