Sean Walkinshaw Racing (SWR) go into this weekend’s BRDC Formula 4 Championship opener at Silverstone in confident mood.

The Chipping-Norton-based outfit are upbeat after a competitive test outing at Snetterton earlier this month.

This gave the drivers and teams their first chance to gauge their performances and SWR’s rookie trio, Nicolas Beer, Jordan Albert and Diego Borrelli, displayed excellent potential.

Danish teenager Beer, the only competitor from the team’s line-up with a full year of single-seater experience under his belt, led SWR’s charge with the fifth fastest time overall at Snetterton’s 2.97-mile 300 Circuit.

Beer’s best lap of 1min 50.937secs (96.34mph) came during the afternoon and was a 0.4 second improvement on his earlier quickest effort.

British youngster Albert was eighth quickest on combined times, his best lap of 1.51.271 placing him seventh fastest in the morning.

Venezuelan karting graduate Borrelli’s best lap of 1.52.463 placed him 14th.

“All of the guys did really well, I’m very pleased with how strong they were,” said owner Sean Walkinshaw.

“Nicolas really impressed and to end the day in the top five, behind some very experienced drivers, was great going.”
