Oxford's Jozef Metelka is looking to repeat his success on the road after winning three medals at the World Para-Cycling Track Championships in Mexico.
The 27-year-old Beeline rider claimed a gold and two silvers for his native Slovakia at the event in Aguascalientes.
Metelka, who lost his lower left leg after a motorbike crash in Abingdon in 2009, competes in the C4 category.
He won gold in the 4km individual pursuit, clocking a world record 4mins 30.608secs.
Metelka added silver in the 1km time trial, where he was beaten by Britain’s Jody Cundy, recording 1.05.244 to Cundy’s 1.01.466, and the 15km scratch race.
Now Metelka is hungry for more medals at August’s Para-Cycling Road World Championships in South Carolina.
He said: “I never expected to come home with three medals.
“I thought there was a chance I might grab one, but I would have been happy with any!”
With the help of solicitor Hilton Obery at NewLaw, Metelka was referred to PACE Rehabilitation and last year became the first recipient in Europe of the American BiOM power assisted ankle system.
