DIVISIONS 7-10

JIM Blackford’s career-best figures of 8-8 helped Kidlington 3rd to an unlikely 57-run victory at Westcott 2nd in Division 10.

Chasing Kidlington’s 138-9, Westcott were ticking along at 56-1 before Blackford intervened.

“I am 60-years-old and it’s the best I have ever done,” he said. “It took that long to hone my art!

“My final three overs were a single-wicket maiden, a double-wicket maiden and then a hat-trick maiden.

“I like to describe my bowling as slow wobblers.

“I don’t like to hog it as I like to give the young lads a go.

“I am trying to coach them as well. They were quite impressed, so hopefully they will listen to me from now on!”

Michael Webb hit 46 in Kidlington’s 139-8 before Blackford ensured Westcott crumbled to 82 all out.

Matty Turner (4-32) helped East & West Hendred 2nd restrict Chipping Norton 2nd to 101 in Division 7.

This total proved just enough however, as Andrew Tomlinson (5-17) enabled his Chippy outfit to dismiss their opponents for 93.

Wolvercote 2nd’s Sahil Agarwal was the day’s top-scorer with 94 not out in his side’s 179-9 at home to fellow Division 8 outfit Combe 2nd.

Neil Sadler then took 3-8 as Combe were shot out for 40.

On Sunday, Richard Cook’s 6-19 for Radley 2nd helped dismiss visitors West Ilsley 2nd for 114.

Simon Huxtable (58no) steered the hosts to 117-3.

Roland Margerson excelled for Eynsham 2nd in Division 9, scoring 50 in his side’s 93 and then bagging 5-19.

But his efforts were in vain as Wootton & Boars Hill 2nd reached 95-6, Mark Taylor starring with 51.

Wootton also won on Sunday, this time against Sunningwell 2nd.

Responding to 70 all out, Mark Taylor crashed 63 not out to set up a comfortable nine-wicket success at 71-1.
