Wantage's Terry Russell has promised to be in the best shape of his life when he steps out onto the big stage at London’s Alexandra Palace in the Queensbury League.

The 21-year-old super middleweight will collide with London veteran Freddie Yemofio on Friday, July 12 after tasting defeat for only the second time in his career last time out at the hands of Northampton’s Dominic Felix.

And the personal trainer, who represents South Moreton Boxing Club, believes the fight arrives at the right time for him as he targets big things later on in the season.

Russell said: “This fight with Yemofio could not have come at a better time for me and come July 12 I’m going to be in the best shape of my life.

“After watching my last fight back on TV against Dominic Felix I felt that I had done enough to win.

“But I can also see that his work during the contest looked cleaner even if I was pressurising him for the whole fight, and I’m ready to move on from there.”

Russell added: “I felt strong up at light heavyweight, but I will be very strong in the super middleweight division and I’m looking to keeping busy now and put everything into practice on the night.”
