OXFORD City Stars have secured their first signing of the summer – and it’s a big one.

Kyle Flemington, a defender from Ontario in Canada, is in the process of moving to the UK and will take to the ice for Stars when their season gets under way in September.

The uncompromising 22-year-old stands at 6ft 7½ins – more than two metres tall – and can’t wait to get going for his new team as they start life in National League 1 following their promotion.

“We’re the new team in the league and everyone will be gunning for us,” he said.

“I’ve come here to play and I wanna turn some heads.”

He added: “Stars are an up and coming team and are bringing new players in.

“It was very appealing to me and I just can’t wait to get on the ice.”

Stars coach Darren Elliott commented: “Kyle’s a great team guy. He’s got that size and presence on the ice that any team would want and is not afraid to look after his teammates when needed.

“It’s going to be a massive boost for us having someone of his size and ability who carries the experience he does.”

Flemington has played in – and won – the Ontario Hockey League, widely considered to be one of the best junior hockey leagues in the world.
