Lloyd Brock returned Home Counties League club record figures of 6-39 as Great & Little Tew moved out of the Division 2 relegation zone with a comfortable six-wicket win at fellow strugglers Falkland.

Brock’s superb effort, which came off 18 overs, sent the Newbury-based club spiralling to 162 all out after they had won the toss and elected to bat.

His figures beat the 5-26 skipper Andy Harris took against Dinton last year.

Brock cut a swathe through Falkland’s top order to reduce the hosts to 13-3.

He made the breakthrough by having skipper Bruce Martin caught and bowled.

Fellow opener David Bloor was then caught by Curtly Slatter, before Brock knocked back James Bloodworth’s stumps.

Brock then breached ex-Hampshire all-rounder Hamza Riazuddin’s defence to make it 30-4.

Harris got in on the act by bowling Theo Cooke, and Ian Bryan had Sam Rhys caught behind by Ashley Hubbert to make it 58-6.

Tew were then frustrated by Benjamin Piper and Craig Williams, who put on 74 for the seventh wicket, before Brock had the latter caught by Joe White.

Rehan Akram became Brock’s sixth victim, and Harris picked up the final two wickets to finish with 3-47.

Piper was the last man out for 73, with his runs coming from 116 balls and including ten fours.

Tew were always in control of the run chase, with White (40) and Hubbert putting on 55 for the first wicket.

Following their dismissals, Markus Jeacock (39) and Harry Smith continued the momentum, before Slatter bludgeoned a quick-fire 39 from 28 deliveries, with six fours and a six, as Tew stormed to victory.
