Henrietta Knight, who saddled the winner of the Peterborough Chase eight times between 1998 and 2007, is to be honoured by Huntingdon when this year’s race takes place on Sunday, December 7.

She will be recognised by the running of the Listed £20,000 Betfred Henrietta Knight Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at the meeting.

Knight, who retired from training at West Lockinge, near Wantage, in May 2012, said: “It is a great honour to have a race run in my name at what was one of my very lucky racecourses where we enjoyed great success in the Peterborough Chase.

“I have always liked going there and I am very grateful to the racecourse. I am very much looking forward to the day.”
