Oxfordshire are favourites for promotion at the halfway stage of the season, following a 14-1 demolition of Leicestershire 2nd.

The victory saw Oxon cement their lead at the top of Division 3 Central in the Senior County Championship and have now picked up ten points out of a possible 12.

Emily Giles won both her doubles matches, partnering Lauren Cooper on her first-team debut.

Meanwhile, Oxfordshire Under 13s continued their unbeaten run in the Shires competition.

Against a very strong Berkshire team, they won 11-9.

Holly Craig beat the top seed in a thrilling singles match by 22-20 in the third end and Maddy Cook came back from one end down, winning 21-18 in the third end.

Ellie Richmond and Christian Mitchell won all four games.

Alex Cook, of Chinnor, won the under 17 singles title at the highly-ranked BE Gold Star event in Surrey.

Cook won his group of four on the first day.

In the semi-finals, he beat the third seed, Sam Lyle of Surrey, 17-21, 21-14, 21-17 before beating Zach Russ (Sussex) 16-21, 21-17, 21-13 in the final.

Oxfordshire players took six medals at the Buckinghamshire Under 15 Bronze Tournament, Jamie Cackett (Abingdon) won silver in the boys’ and mixed doubles.

He won the mixed medal with fellow Oxon player Natalia Mitchell (Woodstock), who also won gold in singles where she beat Anna Pallaci, of Surrey.

Mitchell also took bronze in the doubles with Oxon player Hannah Craig (Sutton Courtenay).
