Charlie Quarterman, of the Oxford-based Zappi Race Team, won the prestigious 80 km Circuit del Guadiana in Don Benito, Spain, as well as taking third place in the King of the Mountains.
Quarterman was up against 180 riders representing the strongest teams in Spain, including both the Contador and Valverde (Movistar) development teams.
After a break in the peloton, Quarterman broke away with three others with 20 kms to go.
The 16-year-old turned on the power over the last 5km, winning by nine seconds.
His achievement is noteworthy because he was riding against Spanish riders up to two years older.
Other Zappi riders Buauna Ball and Pat Christopher finished in 15th and 58th respectively
