JACK ROSS believes St Mirren's first victory in 22 years over Rangers at home has helped them turn the corner in their bid for SPL survival.

The 1-0 success in what was the final encounter between the two sides at Love Street has helped lift the Buddies from the foot of the table.

And Ross is confident it can act as a springboard when they return to action after the international break with a visit to Hamilton, writes BERT MITCHELL.

He said: "Our position did not reflect our performances. But we have a lot of characters in the dressing room and we knew we would come through it. That was our main focus going into the Rangers game.

"We enjoyed the win and I don't think any of us were aware before the match that it was 22 years since St Mirren had beaten Rangers at home.

"We go into the international break on a high and hopefully we can keep things going when we come back away at Hamilton on October 18."
