Changes are expected for Oxford United at Eastleigh this afternoon as head coach Michael Appleton aims for improvements in the final third of the pitch.

The same XI has started the last two games, but the U’s boss felt his side lacked sharpness in attacking areas in a 1-0 defeat at Woking on Tuesday and plans to shuffle the pack.

He said: “There won’t be massive changes, but the likelihood is there will be one or two.

“I didn’t think there was that much wrong with it the other night, other than once we got into the final third.

“I’ll be looking for people to make better decisions on the ball and be a little more clinical and less safe.”

United have no injury concerns, so Appleton has a full range of selection options.

Although the midweek loss was far from ideal, forward Danny Hylton thinks it was a timely reminder for the squad not to look too far ahead.

He said: “It opens your eyes to show you do need to work on a few things and we’re not the finished article.

“Maybe we were getting a bit too big and thought we were better than we are."
