THE Great Britain’s men’s four, with Oxford Blue Constantine Louloudis at stroke, are favourites for Olympic gold after winning at the third and final World Cup Regatta in Poznan, Poland, writes JOHN WIGGINS.

The British crew dominated the race and look a good bet for Rio.

There were bronzes for the lightweight four, with Oxford Brookes old boy Peter Chambers at stroke, and for the pair containing St Edward’s alumnus Stewart Innes.

This result seemingly resolved a selection issue with the fourth-placed British pair containing Brookes’s Matthew Tarrant.

In non-Olympic events, there was gold for Abingdon School old boy, Ollie Cook in the coxed pair and for Joel Cassells (Oxford Brookes) in the lightweight pair.

Meanwhile, Henley Women’s Regatta proved successful for Headington School as, for the third year running, they won the junior eights, while their J16 quad also reached the final.

Wallingford RC dominated the lightweight sculling with wins for the elite double of Gemma Hall and Mary Wilson, and the elite quad along with Hannah Garvey and Lisa Owen.

International lightweights Brianna Stubbs and Ellie Piggott stepped up to open-weight, winning the elite double sculls, while Wallingford lost a close final in the club fours. Brookes’ Immie Mackie won the senior lightweight singles final.

Oxford University celebrated two victories.

The development crew won the Academic eights while former boat club president, Anastasia Chitty, was in the winning elite pair,

Elsewhere, Oxford Blue Josh Bugajski won the elite single sculls at the Marlow Regatta.

Radley College’s J14 octuple triumphed with Abingdon School in second place.

Magdalen College School picked up five sculling trophies at the Thames Valley Park Regatta, Reading, at the expense of Hinksey Sculling School in the J16 double, through Max Bond and Nick Monaco, and in the J17 single with John Kosobucki.

Monaco and Kosobucki joined forces to win the J17 doubles and Ben Blower took the J18 single title.

The J15 B quad event went to Orlando Riviere, James Gant, Archie Licudi, Andrew Galloway and cox Ion Mihai.

Hinksey were consoled with a win for Clarisse Astruc in J15 singles.
