DARIUS Skop produced a dominant performance to record an emphatic win over tough rival Jody Meikle in the Queensbury League at Effingham.

The 30-year-old from Didcot, had exchanged verbal shots with his opponent across social media in the build-up to the clash.

But as the contest unfolded in Surrey, it was clear the Pole, who trains out the South Moreton BC, had the skills to back up his words.

From the opening bell of the six-round contest, Skop looked like a man possessed, hunting down Meikle and firing off crisp combinations that found their mark.

Meikle, a 70-fight veteran, had to endure a barrage of punches from all angles.

As the contest went on, the Scunthorpe fighter offered little resistance.

Skop punched his way to an overwhelming victory, winning every round.

After the fight, hesaid: “The only things I’m not happy with is that I damaged my thumb and I didn’t stop him.

“Meikle showed he can take a strong shot, but I dominated.”

“I now plan to take a short break, then train hard for the next fight.”

Jakub Mucha, from Oxford, missed out on claiming the league’s national heavyweight title after losing to defending champion Bill Harmer.

Mucha came into the contest confident of being the first man to beat the champion.

And at the end of the opening round it looked as if the fight could be stopped, with the champion suffering a nasty cut to his left eye.

But referee Ken Curtis and the ringside doctor felt the champion was safe to continue.

The giants battled it out, with Mucha just unable to make his mark on the 20-stone giant from Kent.

As the final bell rang out from a bruising encounter, it was the champion Harmer who was left celebrating after a titanic battle, taking the victory by a unanimous points decision.
