SWAN A opened up a two-point lead at the top of the Premier Section in the Greene King Oxford & District League with an impressive 3-0 win at George A, writes ANDY BEAL.

In a high-scoring game, Swan set the opening leg with 30. And George fell agonisingly short by one doll, despite a maximum from Steve Bayliss.

George set the second leg with 28, but Swan responded in style with 32.

In the final leg, George set 22 which Swan passed with ease, hitting 27.

Top-scorer Jon Townsend hit 14 (5-5-4) for Swan while Bayliss responded with 13 dolls.

Gladiators A dropped a point at home to Black Prince, who won the first leg 24-23.

But the hosts responded, winning the next two legs 28-25, 30-25. Kevin Giles was top dog for Glads with 14.

Once Premier favourites New Club A are falling off the pace after losing 2-1 to Section 1 side Yarnton British Legion.

Garsington Sports Club A made it three win in a row with a 29-25, 25-23, 26-22 victory over Woodman, whose Charlie Buckingham hit a six in his 13-doll haul.

Bullnose A still top Section 1 after they had a 21-14, 26-11, 24-18 win at home against Six Bells A Quarry, Steve Tooke scoring 13 (5-3-5) for the victors.

Section 2 leaders Swan B suffered their second defeat of the season to North Oxford Conservative Club B, who triumphed 24-23, 18-23, 22-18.

Paul Smith nabbed 13 dolls (5-3-5) for North Oxford.

Crown Chalgrove boosted their title ambitions with a 3-0 win over title contenders Six Bells D.

Don Armstrong smashed off a six in the opening leg for Crown which they set and won 25-17.

The second leg was tied 18-18 with Crown winning it on three sticks and then taking the final leg 28-18.

New Club B remain rooted at the foot of the table after a 3-0 left Queens Head empty-handed.

The scoreline did New Club no justice.

Queen won the first leg 22-17, but had to rely on a three-stick shoot out to win the second leg and just scraped home in the last 19-18.

Section 3 leaders Chequers A had a lucky escape at home to George B in which only one doll separated the two teams.
George won the first leg 14-13 with Chequers levelling in the second leg 16-14 and then taking the decider on three sticks after an 18-18 tie. 
Darren Cox threw well for Florence Park A with 13 dolls (5-4-4) as they defeated King & Queen 15-14, 23-14, 14-12.
It is stil  tight in Section 4, with only four points separating the top seven.
 Donnington Club A lead by a point after a 3-0 win at home to  Masons B. 
Phil Simpson, with a dozen dolls (5-4-3), top-scored in the leg scores of 22-12, 24-13, 22-15.
Garsington Sports Club B Cricketers Cowley 15-10, 16-11, 16-12. 
Despite James Dineen hitting his first-ever six Blackbird lost at The Three Horseshoes 2-1. Dineen ended up with a 13-doll haul. 
Berkshire House shot themselves in the foot in the opening leg at home to Littlemore British Legion. Chasing a set of 14, they needed only two from their last two players to win the leg, but both blobbed out to give the Legion an unexpected first leg win.
 Berkshire drew level 11-10, but  Legion secured victory in the final leg 23-17. 
Bottom club Green Road Club B shocked Red Lion A Marston with a 2-1 win. 
They had to do it the hard way after losing the first leg 23-19.
 Green Road won the second 17-16 and were set 15 in the final leg. 
Simon Hopkins hit four dolls to tie the leg to send it to three sticks, which Green Road won.
Red Lion B Marston move off the foot of the Section 5 table after a 3-0 home win against Donnington Club C. 
Nick Edmonds Snr led the way with a dozen dolls as they won the first two legs 18-14, 19-14 and the final leg on three sticks after it was tied 15-15.

RAY Grant rewrote the Kidlington Summer League record books with a stunning show for Black Prince B.
Grant landed three sixes in a row – the best three legs in living memory – against Kings Arms B, followed by a five and a four.
But Black Prince still lost the match 6-4.
