MACCLESFIELD Town skipper Andy Halls says his side are raring to grasp another opportunity to show what they can do when they face Oxford United tonight.

The sides meet at Moss Rose in the Emirates FA Cup second round, with the hosts looking to follow-up their victory at Walsall last month.

Halls told the club’s website: “It’s a big game for all the lads and for Macclesfield to be playing a team that are two leagues above with a bumper crowd it couldn’t be any better for us.

“I think we’re looking forward to showcasing that we have got ability and that we can compete with teams that are two leagues above and I’m sure we will do ourselves justice.”

With the game being televised, U’s boss Michael Appleton is well aware it will be seen by their opponents as a chance to put themselves in the shop window.

He said: “They want to be playing in the Football League, so it’s an opportunity to stake a claim for all the clubs who might be watching.”

Macclesfield will not have any issues with fatigue this evening.

Their midweek Vanarama National League clash at home to Barrow was frozen off, while last Saturday’s fixture against Dover Athletic was abandoned after 55 minutes due to fog.
