DOUBLE Olympian and British record-holder Jemma Lowe inspired City of Oxford’s youngsters in the club’s level 3 open meet at Leys Pool and Leisure Centre.

Lowe spent the day talking to the swimmers about her own experiences and signing autographs .

She said: “It’s great to see the swimmers having fun.”

This was the largest level 3 meet held by City, with competition from all over the Oxford and North Bucks county region, Hillingdon, Cheltenham and even some from as far away as Cornwall.

City’s youngsters acquitted themselves well.

For the club’s girls, Ayanna Fulga, 11, and Elise Lawrence, 17, shone, both securing six victories and two second places in their respective age groups.

Georgina Butler, 15, took four first places, one second and two third.

For the boys, City’s ten-year-olds dominated the results sheet.

Lachlan Middleton collected four first places, one runner-up position and two thirds.

Ethan Bird won two races and claimed six second places as well as two thirds.
