CITY of Oxford continued their dominance of the Oxfordshire & North Bucks County Championships when winning the title for a fifth successive year.

The club amassed 2,034 points, beating Milton Keynes by 834½, after collecting 17 open and 18 junior titles.

City also retained the top junior award for the 10-16 age groups for a sixth year in a row.

Their dominance continued in the individual awards, with David Murphy top boy and Emily Wood top girl.

In the final gala at Aqua Vale, Aylesbury, Emily Ford, 15, took one open and three junior titles in the 100m butterfly, 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

She broke the junior county record in the former, with a time of 1min 2.50secs.

Oxford enjoyed a 1-2-3 in the 200m breaststroke, with Emily Wood beating Natasha Fenton and Maia Little.

Wood also won the open 50m breaststroke, with Little third, while Fenton clinched the junior 200m breaststroke title.

In the boys, Daniel Jenkins, 16, claimed two junior awards in the 200m individual medley and 50m backstroke.

He was also on the podium a further four times, taking his overall medal tally to ten.

Oxford also dominated the relay events, winning three out of four titles,

Chris Currie, 21, won the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke in the multi-class disability category, with Libby Gotta, 13, breaking five deaf age-group records.

In the age group events, Oxford won 19 gold, 26 silver and 19 bronze.

Nicholas Skelton, 14, (50m and 200m backstroke) and Billy Wotton, 14, (200m IM and 100m breaststroke) took two titles.

Lottie James was the star as Abingdon Vale secured fifth place at Aylesbury.

Vale brought home eight gold, ten silver and eight bronze medals, with 18 of their swimmers reaching finals.

James, 13, delivered winning swims across all four strokes, in distances from 50 to 400 metres.

She finished her county campaign with six golds, two silvers and one bronze.

In her first championships, Bethan Lillistone, 11, achieved an impressive six top-eight places.

Seb Rawes, 13, achieved two gold, two silver and a bronze.

In the competitive open category, Lauren James, 16, qualified for five finals, while county debutants Joseph Bradshaw and Scott Yap bagged top-eight placings and regional qualifications.
