BERINSFIELD Club caused a major upset in the Johnsons Buildbase Oxford League when they crushed Division 1 title-contenders Masons A 5-1 on their own table.
Mick Murphy won the opening leg for the hosts, before Berinsfield reeled off the next three singles through Phil McFarland, Adam Ingram and Geoff Mace, the top scorer with 8,050.
The visitors completed victory by taking both pairs.
Leaders Donnington won 5-1 at Gladiators B, thanks to singles wins from Dave Tooke (4,260), Ian Moquet (6,930) and Jenny Florey.
Gladiators’ Neil Cunliffe saved the whitewash Democrats drew 3-3 at home to Oracle.
John Patey and Eddie Tebby won the home side’s singles, while Mark Trafford (9,080) and Brian Rose (4,740) replied.
Vikings Club A beat their B side 6-0, Mike Jones being their highest scorer.
Headington Con Club remain in second place in Division 2 after a 4-2 home over Masons B thanks to singles wins from Tim Jeffreys, Roger Tomlin (4,220) and Keith Hollis (6,790).
