MICKEY Cranks ladies’ team – The Crankettes – powered to victory in the third round of the Oxfordshire Road Race League at Weston-on-the-Green.
Horrific conditions confronted the teams, with strong winds driving the rain horizontally from start to finish.
But it was the Witney-based team that handled conditions the best.
Despite trailing in the early stages to pre-race favourites and local rivals, the Cowley Road Condors, the well-drilled Crankettes soon found a rhythm and went on to claim victory by 54 seconds.
