CITY of Oxford’s Connor Bryan has been called up by Team Wales for the forthcoming Commonwealth Youth Games.

The 16-year-old starred in the junior final of the 100m breaststroke clocking a time of 1min 4.19secs at the British Championships at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield last month.

Bryan will join nine other swimmers representing his country in the multi-event competition which takes place in the Bahamas from July 17-23.

City of Oxford head coach Amanda Booth was delighted another of her swimmers had received international recognition.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Connor to be part of the Welsh multi-sport team,” she said.

“This event and Connor’s selection for European Juniors will provide him with invaluable experience in his journey towards senior success in the future.

“This also reflects the growing success of  the club and will offer inspiration and opportunities for swimmers to represent their nation in the future.”

At junior level, a number of City of Oxford’s academy swimmers have completed their Swim England competitive safe diving award and are now ready to take to the water at the Maxwell meeting next month and City’s end-of-season level 3 event in July.
