BRADLEY Smith expressed mixed emotions after coming 18th in the Austrian Moto GP at Spielberg on Sunday.

It was held at the home track of the Red Bull KTM Factory team, for whom the Oxfordshire rider competes.

The 26 year-old, from Forest Hill, ran off the track late in the race after the heat affected his engine set-up.

But his Finnish teammate Mika Kallio came tenth.

Smith said: “It was very cool to see the KTM Grandstand packed full of 8,200 people on the warm-up lap, I’m not going to lie.

“But the race didn’t didn’t quite turn out how I thought it would.

“I made a good start and was hanging in there lapping at a low 1min 25secs, like I did in warm-up.

“But the warmer weather took its toll on the bike’s set-up.

“And however much I changed my style, I couldn’t quite hold onto that pace.

“I was pleased as I was holding off some good guys, but I had a big moment at turn nine and ran off the track and then I had to get it home.”
