COWLEY fighter Jordan Flynn is eyeing a fourth national championships title when he takes on Sam Noakes in Gateshead on Monday.

The 21-year-old beat Sheffield boxer Levi Kinsiona in the 60-64kg light welterweight division semi-finals in Liverpool last weekend.

Flynn, who trains at Hoddesdon ABC, Hertfordshire, is fighting a weight above his usual level and is upbeat about his chances of beating Westree ABC’s Noakes.

He said: “I’m feeling confident and ready to go and I want to create history by winning my fourth national title.”

Flynn beat Kinsiona, a two-time senior national champion, on a unanimous decision.

Depsite facing a boxer, who had a 10-0 record this season, the Oxford fighter forced him to face two standing eight counts in the first round.

After an even second round, Flynn landed a number of clean punches in the third as he cruised to victory.

He said: “It was a very good win against a tough opponent.”
