DEREK Fazackerley has a chance to get Oxford United within 90 minutes of Wembley when he takes charge of their Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final tonight.

The 66-year-old has had one training session in caretaker charge following Pep Clotet’s dismissal and will lead them against Chelsea Under 21s.

United also visited Stamford Bridge in last season’s competition, drawing 1-1 in the group stage.

It was notable for the resulting penalty shoot-out, which involved 34 spot-kicks and saw United lose 13-12 but still progress.

Ricardinho is available after being suspended on Saturday, but top-scorer Wes Thomas is out with a hamstring problem and Rob Dickie is cup-tied.

Canice Carroll is suspended, while Cameron Brannagan (ankle) and Mike Williamson (knee) are doubts after missing the Bury defeat, but without another league game until February 3 they are likely to name their strongest possible side.

Chelsea’s route to the last eight includes a 4-0 win against Milton Keynes Dons, who topped United’s group. Among their scorers last month was striker Michy Batshuayi, who joined the Londoners for £33m in 2016.
