WILL Jeffery suffered a severe wrist injury when competing for Horspath Hammers in the British Youth Junior League Championships on his home track.

Looking for a last-race victory to make the Under 18 A final, Jeffery had a nasty fall which resulted in the injury.

Clubmate Nathan Loveridge also suffered misfortune.

Having reached the Under 14 A final, he was in a comfortable second place when he had a rare burst tyre that put an end to his rostrum hopes.

With the new pits opened for the first time, the upgraded track came in for high praise HORSPATH’S TOP SCORERS Under 10: T Seabright 12pts, K Legg 9. Under 12: C Legg 8. Under 14: N Loveridge 14, J Brown 9. Under 18: J Ellis 13, W Jeffery 9, R Loveridge 7.

Horspath are in action at Newport tomorrow in the final round of the Spring Cup, having won the previous round on their home track.

Next Saturday, the club host the Wally Grant Memorial Meeting, starting at 1pm It will feature an international veterans match between the British Lions that toured and defeated Australia Veterans (3-0) and the Eurovets Stars.

Lions will be led by the world veteran champion Norman Venson, Craig Marchant and Dave Hemsley.

That will be followed by the Wally Grant Memorial Trophy at 3pm.
