HORSPATH Hammers stayed on track for the British South & South West League play-off with a handsome 95-78 victory away to last year’s winners Newport.
Fielding four riders under 17, the visitors were always in charge, from the moment one of the young quartet, Jack Ellis, won the opening race.
Fellow teenagers Will Jeffery, Owen Johnson and Alice Neighbour – making a welcome return from illness – also figured strongly.
But the star pairing was that of Lukas Nowacki and Zac Payne (pictured), who consolidated Hammers early dominance with two 7-3 heat wins.
After the break, the visitors had six of the eight race-winners to stretch their victory margin to 17 points.
Horspath, who trounced hosts Exeter 101-78 the previous week, entertain leaders Poole Comets tomorrow (2pm).
Horspath scorers (v Newport): Z Payne 18+1, W Jeffery 17+1, L Nowacki 15+1, J Neighbour 13+1, J Ellis 12, A Johnson 10, A Neighbour 6, O Johnson 5.
