A BRILLIANT spell by 13-year-old Lottie Oxton was the feature of Oxfordshire women’s ECB T20 Division 3 double-header against Devon and Cornwall.

Oxon were outclassed in their first game against Devon, who rattled up 145-5, Rachel Potter taking useful 3-31 in Truro.

Oxon collapsed to Becca Silk, who took 5-6 as they slumped for 29, extras top-scoring with 11.

Undeterred by this loss, Oxon batted well against Cornwall to score 114-8.

Opener Emilia Bartram made 25, while Gina Haworth (23no) guided them into three-figures.

Sophie Mitchelmore dismissed both Cornish openers, but it was Charlbury youngster Oxton who took 4-3 off three overs, restricting Cornwall to 98-9.

Oxfordshire Under 15 boys maintained their unbeaten record with a seven-wicket victory over Dorset.

Anton Eisner took 4-29 as Dorset were restricted to 162-9, before Joe Elliott’s 56 saw Oxon home.

Oxfordshire Under 10s lost by 49 runs to Berkshire.

Berkshire made 162, despite a spell of 4-16 from Charlie Sutton, before Oxon were out for 113.

  • DESPITE a brilliant innings from Dylan Driscoll, Wheatley Park School Under 13s’ dreams of reaching a national final were dashed by a narrow defeat.

After a historic run, the Oxfordshire team went down by 17 runs to Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Wakefield, in the semi-final of the David English/Bunbury Cup played at Horspath.

Batting first, the visitors reached 193-9, Adam Hussain scoring 36.

Driscoll led Wheatley’s reply with a superb 92, but he did not receive sufficient support and they were all out for 176.

  • OXFORD Downs and Banbury were involved in a thrilling tie in their Chadlington Brewery Oxfordshire T20 North Group game.

Downs made 152, thanks to Adam Beck’s 61. With one ball left Banbury were 151-9, but Ben Cross was stumped off a wide, which brought the scores level.

Sandford St Martin beat Shipton, while Great & Little Tew defeated Bicester & North Oxford and Cumnor overcame Witney Swifts.

In the South Group, Horspath beat Didcot , Oxford & Bletchingdon saw off Oxenford, Tiddington defeated Thame Town and Aston Rowant overcame Oxford.
