FORMER Oxford United manager Michael Appleton has left his role as the Leicester City No 2.

The 42-year-old quit as U’s boss to join the Premier League club just over a year ago.

But a restructure of Claude Puel’s coaching staff sees Jacques Bonnevay coming in as their new assistant manager, with Appleton – who is on his honeymoon – leaving ‘with immediate effect’.

Bonnevay, 57, has almost 20 years’ experience in the game, having coached in Morocco, the UAE and Turkey.

He has most recently spent three years on the staff of Japan’s national team.
