IAN Young, from Drennan Oxford Yellow, had to settle for second place in the first round of the Oxford Summer League on the Thames at Abingdon and Culham.
Young had five bream and a ten-pound roach in his total of 30lb 2oz.
But that was well behind the winner Mark Harrington (Sensas A4 Black), who from the next door peg, weighed in with 40.10, made up of ten bream on the pole.
John Hassler (Isis) was third with 26.1.
The team event, fished by eight squads of six, was won by Sensas Black
Team points: 1 Sensas A4 Black 33, 2= Drennan Oxford Yellow & Devizes MG 31.
Nick Paxton made no mistake to win the eighth round of Yarnton & District’s Summer League at Clattercote Reservoir.
Drawn on the £100 golden peg, venue regular Paxton used the pellet waggler to put 80.10 on the scales.
Club chairman Harry Oliver was second with 61.0, while Anthony Williams (48.12) came third with.
Jamie Pancott weighed a carp for entry in the Specimen Cup which tipped the scales at 16.11.
