TONY McMahon was not impressed Fleetwood Town’s opening goal was allowed to stand after the officials missed a clear foul on the Oxford United defender.

Ched Evans put the visitors in front at the Kassam Stadium, but replays showed he pulled back McMahon, who was well-positioned before being spun to the floor.

The right back said: “It was a clear foul and he (Evans) said it to me straight away after.

“You can see I’m in front of him and he’s grabbed my arm and swung me round on to the floor.

“I said to the ref ‘why would I go down?’ I was in front of him in the right position and it was a clear foul, but he’s obviously missed it.

“It’s a tough one to take really because there was nothing in the game in the first half and when they score a goal like that obviously you’re disappointed.”

U’s boss Karl Robinson was fuming it had gone unnoticed.

He said: “The referee was absolutely atrocious.

“We were told to leave the fourth official alone and he will be another pair of eyes. The fourth official did nothing.”

But McMahon readily admitted United had to look at themselves, rather than blame the officials.

He said: “I can’t stand here and say that was the only thing wrong. We are obviously disappointed with the result and the way we played.

“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We’ve got to stick together.

“There’s only us who can change it.”
