OXFORD Saints completed their regular season in the Southern Conference with a disappointing 35-12 home defeat at the hands of Sussex Thunder at Abingdon’s Tilsley Park.
After going 7-0 down early on, the hosts hit back to lead 12-7 thanks to a long throw by quarter-back James Sharples and then an interception touchdown by Simeon Stoodley.
Saints missed both their
two-point attempts.
Thunder hit back immediately to grab a 15-12 lead at half-time.
The visitors dominated the second half with three more touchdowns for a comfortable victory.
The defeat means that Saints finished fourth out of six teams in Division 1 Central, having won four of their ten games and tied one.
