Oxford United dismiss striker speculation

RUMOURS Oxford United are interested in a prolific non-league striker have been laughed off by manager Chris Wilder.

United have been linked with a move for Hyde’s Scott Spencer, who has scored 30 goals in 30 starts to fire the Blue Square Bet North club to the top of the table.

Some reports even suggested a five-figure fee had already been agreed, but Wilder dismissed them as idle speculation.

He said: “I got a call off an agent this week saying he’d heard we were interested.

“It’s absolute garbage.”
