Oxford City’s men maintained their headship with impressive rows in the four divisions at their bumping races.
The winning City crew was Toby Reinike, Paul Crewe, Graham Winstone and Chris Platt with Rachel Nazarin as cox.
They came out on top of the highest entry for five years, with the representation from local clubs boosted by a sizeable Cambridge contingent.
Oxford City Juniors finished third, just ahead of Wolfson and City’s second men’s crew.
The City third men’s crew achieved a ‘bump’ in all four of their second division races and were awarded their blades.
City’s women failed to maintain their headship which was snatched away by Abingdon RC in the first of the four races.
The Abingdon crew with Clare Hutchings at bow, Nikki Reeves, Frances Burge, Sarah Marshall and Mike Tomlinson at cox, started second in Division 1 and chased down and bumped the City of Oxford Juniors, who had held the title for the last two years.
Further afield, Abingdon’s Karen Roberts won the Women’s Masters C in a 700m race on the Grand Union Canal at Leicester.
