United sign keeper Ripley on loan
6:22pm Friday 27th April 2012 in Sport
OXFORD United have signed goalkeeper Connor Ripley on loan from Middlesborough after Wayne Brown was ruled out of tomorrow's clash with Southend.
Brown, who has replaced injured first-choice keeper Ryan Clarke in recent weeks, twisted his knee in training with United today.
The experienced stopper faces a scan, but is definitely out the Southend game.
Ripley, the son of former England winger Stuart Ripley, is the England Under 19 goalkeeper.
He has made two senior appearances in the Championship and played four times for his country, winning all four games.
Ripley goes straight into the United squad for tomorrow's game alongside youth team keeper Max Crocombe.

Jeepers ! just what is wrong with our training methods. We must be the only club in the country which makes their players unfit between matches.
