Hall turns down Oxford United contract

ASA Hall has rejected a contract offer from Oxford United after interest from a higher ranked club.

The 25-year-old made 82 appearances for the U's and finished this season as the club's second highest goalscorer with seven strikes.

But his future will be elsewhere, with a club from a higher division poised to sign the midfielder.

Talks with Adam Chapman and Wayne Brown, the other two players offered deals last week, continue.

If it was myself and my current boss said I would be mad to turn down the offer, that would have probably pushed me in the opposite direction. Though not a great loss I think....we had not seen him for 18 months!

See ya later Asa thanks for playing well when you had a contract to play for. Agree with taffy duck, not too big a loss.

Definitely not a big loss, he had about 12 good games for us and that's it! Good riddance to bad rubbish i say!

12 good games, player of the year material then.

So happy we turned it down. Going to a high league! Well have fun sitting on the bench! Not good enough for league 2 I don't think. 89 games and only 11 or 12 goals. Most this season!

Bye Bye!

Good. We need much better than him (and six of his former first team regular colleagues) in our quest for automatic promotion

Well really chaps - the only guy who had a decent shot at goal for numerous games and without his goals we would have struggled to make mid table. Good luck to him and we will not attract much better than him lets be real.
Ask yourselves why he does not want to be at Oxford

Nice and positive stuff CamView. The fact that he was offered more money by a higher club is a bit of a clue.
He is a bit of a loss based on his late season form but otherwise I would have described him as expendable. We can get better players that offer the 'engine' we need to drive the team.
Be positive.

He scored about four goals more than might be expected of a decent midfielder. The rest of his game was very poor. I very much hope that the higher division club is one based in Wiltshire

Mid table - in terms of results we came 10th (Vale got docked 10 points) - 10th is pretty close to mid table

Don't agree with any of the comments ! HE was a decent player and will be a loss. Come on.....With Wilders' record do you really believe he will get anyone better.....A midfield equivalent of Smallet

Asa was one of those who I wanted to keep, I thought he did ok and like others he had good games as well as not so good, but he would be in my squad.

Lets hope Chapman signs after the club stood by him, and we find from somewhere half a dozen fit young skilful players, but like always there are many clubs doing the same.

After the way he jogged over to a ball still in play at Port Vale and got overtaken by a player 10 meters behind him summed up that he was on his way out!!

Just hope London Welsh rugby club dont get there way and play at the Kassam, then it will be a mud bath every week.

If promoted then Brentford is where they are heading. Madejski, Vicarage Road, Adams Park and JJB are in very good nick. A good money spinner for Brentford FC's owner

I'm starting to worry about Chapman tbh. I really think that wilder has lost the dressing room. I reckon his treatment of beano, in clearly trying to force him out, has clearly soured what used to be a united squad.

Wilder out.

Wilder doesn't want to play football anyway and this gives him another excuse that he will hide behind every week.

good luck to hall if has had a better offer. his goals kept us in contention at the tail end of the season and if he can move up a division you cant blame him,as you can always move back down if things dont work out.

He won't make a second contract in League One
He does not get stuck in and can't beat a player
