  • "It would be good to sign Evans. We have one elderly & one not so good in that position @ the moment.
    Good luck to him"

United triallists have to sweat

A decision will be made shortly on whether any of the three triallists Oxford United took on tour will be offered a contract.

Youngsters Alex Evans, Ryan Tafazoli and Courtney Harris all played 90 minutes in the U’s final game in the US on Monday night.

Evans, a centre back, was the most impressive performer of the three, although his defensive partner Tafazoli and Harris, a midfielder, both contributed to the victory against Jim Dedeus All Star XI.

It remains to be seen whether U’s boss Chris Wilder has room in the playing budget to add to his squad, but the trio will be told of their futures shortly.

Wilder said: “We changed the team around and gave an opportunity to the three triallists to play 90 minutes. “They did OK and we’ll assess it when we get back.”
