Oxford City triple jumper Nathan Douglas will miss next month's World Championships in Osaka after tearing a hamstring.
The 24-year-old had been tipped as a medal contender after winning silver behind fellow Briton Phillips Idowu at the European Indoor Championships in March.
He was also second in last summer's European Championships.
Douglas picked up the injury - a grade three tear to the hamstring - when finishing fifth in the IAAF Grand Prix in Madrid last weekend.
He posted a distance of 17.11m as Portugal's Nelson Evora took victory with 17.51m.
Grenada's Randy Nelson was second with 17.40, while United States' Aarik Wilson finished third with 17.30.
