Suspended Gloucestershire bowler Jack Taylor will have shoulder surgery after suffering an injury in practice.

The 21-year-old off-spinner, who who came through the youth ranks of Oxfordshire cricket, has been out of action since May after being reported for illegal bowling actions on two separate occasions within a 12-month period.

He will now have an operation on the ligaments in his left shoulder before having his action tested again.

Gloucestershire director of cricket John Bracewell said: “Jack won’t be out for long and will then return to bowling.

“After that we will get his action tested as quickly as we possibly can. I think he was ready to pass the test before he dislocated his shoulder while fielding in the warm-up for a 2nd XI game.

“He will have to go up to Loughborough University to be examined by the 3D testing system the ECB employ in such cases and we are hopeful all will be well.”

Prior to his suspension, Taylor, who began his career with Great & Little Tew CC, played four Division 2 games this year, taking six wickets and scoring 178 runs.

He spent the rest of the season batting in the team’s 2nd XI, making 375 runs.
