Horspath cruised to an eight-wicket win over local rivals Oxford in the ECB Twenty20 Cup first round at Roman Way yesterday.

Oxford were shot out for 95 after being put in to bat, losing their last five wickets for five runs as Jack Biggs (4-7) mopped up the tail.

Adam Mould (34no) and Shahbaz Ali (31no) then saw Horspath home at 98-2 with 6.1 overs to spare.

Aston Rowant were blown away by a stunning Tring Park batting display as they crashed to a 55-run defeat.

Opener Robin Pritchard smashed 64 off 24 balls, with five fours and six sixes, while Shelvin Gumbs hammered 56 off 28 deliveries, with four fours and four maximums, as Tring rattled up 216-5 after being put in to bat.

Sport

Rowant were in with a chance when Chris Watling (42) and captain Josh Smith (40) were together, but the innings fell away to 161-9 as Simon Stanway took 3-30.

Great & Little Tew lost by six wickets at Slough, while Banbury were handed a walkover by Cove.

Oxfordshire wicket-keeper Jonny Cater’s unbeaten 102 proved in vain for Buckingham Town, who lost by 35 runs at Henley.
