ANDY Harris is urging his middle order to make sure they are ready to step up to the mark for Great & Little Tew if his openers fail to continue their fine form.
Club league record opening stands of 141 and 160 from Joe White and Matt Clark have been the catalyst for victories over Finchampstead and Datchet so far this season.
White scored an unbeaten 130 last week, while Clark put 61 on the board, before he was bowled.
However, captain Harris is keen to keep his middle order on their toes in case the runs dry up at the top, starting ahead of tomorrow’s Division 2 match at Amersham.
He said: “The openers have allowed us to be flexible in our approach to the innings.
“But there will come a time when they do not score the runs and we have got to make sure our middle order is up to the task.”
Tew name an unchanged side for tomorrow.
Great & Little Tew (v Amersham, away): White, Clark, Smith, Coetzee, Slatter, Garrett, Hubbert, Shurmer, Harris (capt), Woods, Thomas.
