ANDY Harris is calling on Great & Little Tew to cement a promotion spot in Division 2 of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League over the next four weeks, starting tomorrow at home to Buckingham Town.

League leaders Tew suffered an agonising four-run defeat to Amersham last weekend, with their advantage cut to 28 points after second-placed Gerrards Cross beat Dinton.

With just 33 points separating Finchampstead in third and second bottom Aston Rowant, captain Harris is keen to make the most of their advantage.

He said: “The way things are going every side seems to pick up results against everyone.

“It is nice to still have the cushion of 28 points.

“In the next three or four games it would be good to pick up another couple of wins and cement our place in the top two.”

Tew make one change, with Lloyd Brock replacing Markus Jeacock, who drops down to the second XI.

Rowant captain Josh Smith is urging his side to return to winning ways against third bottom Datchet after back-toback league and cup defeats in the space of four days.

They had been unbeaten under the timed format until last Saturday’s 48-run defeat at home to Finchampstead.

That was followed by a two-run loss to Oxford in the semi-finals of the Bernard Tollett Cup on Tuesday.

Smith said: “We have got to get back on a winning streak.

“It (the tightness of the league) makes for an interesting game of cricket, it is a good thing.

“But we would love to win a few on the bounce and get ourselves up in mid-table.”

Andrew Tolson is in for the unavailable Chris Watling.

Shipton-under-Wychwood are also in need of a positive result after slipping from second to seventh in the space of three weeks.

Saturday’s match at Cove was cancelled due to the wet weather, but Shipton host Gerrards Cross tomorrow off the back of a winless July.

Liam Hare replaces left-arm seamer Matthew Brown.
