ANDY Harris is backing Great & Little Tew to end their four-match winless run in Division 2 of the Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League at home to Cove tomorrow.

Leaders Tew have lost to Amersham and Aston Rowant, as well as being held to draws by Datchet and Buckingham in recent weeks.

Their lead at the top has been cut from 46 points to 13.

However, this weekend marks the return of 50-over cricket after nine weeks of the timed format and captain Harris remains upbeat.

He said: “Every team throughout the course of a season is going to have some ups and downs.

“In the next four games we have got a chance of getting some points to consolidate our position at the top.

“If you had given us this position at the start of the season I would have bitten your hand off.”

Tew make three changes with Harry Smith, Matthew Woods and Liam Manley replacing Markus Jeacock, Lawrence Brock and Lloyd Brock.

Rowant captain Josh Smith believes the change in format should have a positive impact on his side, who travel to Buckingham Town tomorrow.

Last weekend’s 90-run victory over Tew saw Rowant move out of the relegation zone by a point.

Smith said: “We need to win games.

“Fifty-over cricket suits us because it is black or white.”

Fourth-placed Shipton-under-Wychwood visit Amersham, with Calvin Dickinson replacing Jeremy Kirby.
