GREAT & Little Tew’s lead has been cut to 14 points after they were beaten by six wickets at promotion rivals Gerrards Cross in Division 2.

The visitors, who could have sealed promotion, were dismissed for 150, Daniel Hampton taking 3-35, before Gerrards Cross eased home.

Tew were put into bat and restricted to 34-2.

Jordan Garrett top-scored with 34 and Martin Coetzee hit a quickfire 28 off 30 deliveries to lead a slight reprieve.

But Tew went onto lose four quick wickets for 24 runs to find themselves at 79-6.

Robbie Shurmer and Andy Harris put on a seventh-wicket partnership of 38, but after the former fell, Tew were skittled for 150.

In reply, the visitors got off to a good start, dismissing opener Jamie Hoddle, but Gerrards Cross then gained control.

Hampton and Sam Westaway combined to score 63 for the second wicket.

Ashley Hubbert stumped Hampton to make it 72-2, before Joe Thomas took two quick wickets to dismiss James Crosthwaite and Matthew Watson.

But it only delayed the inevitable as Westaway and Alexander Woodland led Gerrards Cross to victory.

Aston Rowant beat Amersham by 36 runs to boost their relegation fears.

They are third from bottom, two points ahead of next placed Cove, their opponents on Saturday, who helped their own cause with victory over Buckingham Town.

Chris Watling (60) steered Rowant to 150-5.

Wes Morrick (58) and Richard Cook (37no) then put on 52 for the sixth wicket as Rowant finished on 259-8.

Amersham started well before Christopher Fleming was dismissed after an opening partnership of 80 with Bruce Friderichs (69).

The visitors then struggled to add to their tally, with only Richard Stephenson scoring over 20.

Sasha Barras took 3-41 as Amersham were dismissed for 233.

Shipton’s promotion hopes are now over and they need another victory to ensure their place in the division.

They are 16 points above the relegation zone with 40 available.

After being put in to bat, Shipton were all out for 178, before the visitors sealed victory in the 40th over.
