LUKE Ryan says Oxfordshire can learn from losing last year’s Unicorns Counties Trophy final when they take on Cumberland in next week’s Championship showpiece.
Oxon travel to Carlisle for the four-day match, which begins on Sunday, in search of their first Championship title since 1989.
Seven of last year’s Trophy final team are set to face Cumberland and captain Ryan is backing his side to deliver.
He said: “Hopefully we can learn from our experience and come out on top this time.
“It is obviously a huge game and we will be remembered if we win a national title.
“I’m very much looking forward to it and we are really confident.”
Oxon are fielding a virtually full-strength side, with teenager Jordan Garrett the only first-choice selection unavailable.
The Great & Little Tew batsman has been picked to play for the English Schools against the MCC Schools at Lord’s next Tuesday.
