Oxfordshire's Linsey Smith starred with 5-9 to help Reading land the ECB Women’s Premier League title.

The left-arm seamer, 15, was named player of the match for her superb bowling display against Ransome and Marles.

Smith, who lives in Thame and also plays for Aston Rowant, took three wickets in six balls during her fine haul as the Nottinghamshire club were skittled for 85.

Her teammate and star England batsman Claire Taylor then steered Reading to a three-wicket win.

Rowant chairman Gary Condon said: “Linsey has played at Rowant since she was seven or eight.

“She has been a real stand-out player for us for a long time and has come on a lot in the last couple of years.

“There were seven England players in that match.

“I think she has got an immense amount of potential.”

Having performed the guard of honour, the team can will stay at Headingley to watch the match.
