ASTON Rowant’s creation of a new ground in five months has seen them receive The Cricketer magazine’s G&M Club of the Month award.

Rowant’s second ground is now up and running, next to their original facility, after a farmer’s field was levelled.

The project was overseen by Simon Tremlin, head groundsman at Wormsley.

Rowant chairman Gary Condon said: “A lot of hard work has gone into this. It is all part of a larger plan. We have put in lots of facilities including new nets.

“We have been on a fund-raising mission to get the new ground.

“The players who will benefit most are the young guys we are looking to develop.

“Our former chairman, Andrew Bailey, had the vision for a second ground and now we have it. The plan is to get a new pavilion between the two grounds.”
