JOSH Smith is urging his Aston Rowant players to take responsibility ahead of tomorrow’s Serious Cricket Home Counties Premier League Division 2 match at home to leaders Great & Little Tew.

Rowant suffered a second successive league defeat in a 32-run loss at Datchet on Saturday, leaving them second bottom, with five games remaining.

Smith’s side have already beaten Tew this season, by 71 runs in the 50/50 format at the beginning of June, and the Rowant captain is urging his side to step up to the challenge once again.

He said: “Somebody in both disciplines needs to stick their hand up and put in a match-winning performance.

“We are a very talented side, it is just everyone seems to leave it to someone else and that can’t happen.”

Chris Watling returns for Leo Bethell (unavailable).

Tew skipper Andy Harris is not underestimating Smith’s side.

He said: “They are not the worst we have played against this season.

“It will not be an easy game.”

Matthew Woods and Matt Clark are both unavailable, while Curtly Slatter drops to the second XI.

Markus Jeacock, Robbie Catling and Robbie Shurmer come into the side.

Shipton-under-Wychwood travel to bottom side Dinton, with Jeremy Kirby and Charlie Miller replacing George Seacole and Liam Hare.
