ANUPAM Sanklecha produced one of the best spells in league history to give Shipton-under-Wychwood a resounding victory over Home Counties Premier League Division 2 leaders Amersham on Saturday.

The India seamer produced the amazing figures of 8-14 from 12.5 overs to send hosts Amersham crashing to 81 all out, giving struggling Shipton a commanding victory by 161 runs.

This followed his stunning 8-62 against Buckingham last week.

Chasing Shipton’s impressive total of 244-4, Amersham lost Bruce Friedrichs to Scott Harris for nought, but had progressed to 32-1 before Sanklecha wreaked havoc.

Clean bowling four victims, he wiped out the middle order to reduce Amersham 49-8.

But for an unbeaten 32 from Stanley Walsh, the leaders would have been out for even less.

Sanklecha snatched the potential headlines from Charlie Miller, who made a spectacular century as Shipton rattled up 244-4 from their 58 overs after choosing to bat.

Striking six sixes and eight fours, Miller scored 108 not out from 130 balls. And he shared a third-wicket stand of 96 with Sanklecha who hit 52.

Taking over from Amersham at the top are Aston Rowant after their narrow two-wicket win at Great Brickhill.

After putting in their hosts. Rowant dismissed them for 190 in 57.3 overs, thanks to effective bowling from Gordon Harris (4-48) and Adam Muttitt (3-50).

The visitors made hard work of getting the runs but Josh Smith (53) and and an unbeaten 53 from Andrew Tolson, when they were wobbling at 91-5, saw them over the line in the 48th over.

Thame Town cruised to an easy five-wicket win at home to bottom club Reading.

The visitors, put in to bat, were shot out for 116 to the bowling of Hassam Mushtaq (3-16), Mike Higgs (3-38) and Andrew Russell (2-12).

Callum Russell then made 56 off 57 balls as Thame knocked off the runs inside 24 overs to go third in the table.
