GREAT & Little Tew are Division 2 champions after a convincing sixwicket victory over local rivals Shipton-underWychwood.

Andy Harris’s side had already secured promotion to Division 1 for the first time, but victory wrapped up the title.

Shipton avoided relegation after Cove lost to Amersham.

Tew elected to field and made an early breakthrough with Liam Manley bowling Calvin Dickinson.

Shipton recovered and a second-wicket partnership of 96 between Andrew Hemming and captain Simon Hole gave them a foothold in the match on 107-1.

However, when Robbie Shurmer dismissed Hemming (48) and Jamie Perkin within three balls of each other, the hosts were in control.

Hole (46) soon followed as Shipton lost four wickets for seven runs, Joe Thomas taking three of them.

There was to be no fightback from the tailenders as Manley had both Charles Brain and and Jeremy Kirby dismissed, before Matt Woods caught and bowled Matthew Brown as Shipton were all out for 159.

In reply, Tew lost Jordan Garrett early on, but Matthew Clark (58no) and Joe White (33) put on 47 for the second wicket.

Shaun Miller gave Shipton hope when he bowled White.

However, Harry Smith and Curtly Slatter assisted Clark in the run chase, taking the visitors to 128-4.

Clark, who hit five boundaries in his 58 off 87 balls, and Ashley Hubbert then steered Tew to victory in the 33rd over.

Aston Rowant ensured their Division 2 status after a narrow seven-run win at Gerrards Cross, despite Daniel Hampton’s 133 for the hosts.

Josh Smith’s men finished 27 points above the danger zone.

After being inserted, Rowant were restricted to 95-6, but a seventh-wicket partnership of 105 between Leo Bethell and Wes Morrick gave them hope.

However, when they fell, Rowant were soon all out for 211.

In reply, Dominic Whatman (4-30) helped restrict Gerrards Cross to 73-5.

Hampton’s 133 off 139 balls, which included 17 boundaries, put the hosts in contention.

And with Gerrards Cross on 204-8 it looked like they would record victory, however Rowant took the final two wickets without any runs being added to the total.
