CAPTAIN Luke Ryan saluted his Oxfordshire side after they were crowned champions of the Western Division.

A dominant display against Wiltshire at Devizes saw Oxon seal victory in the Unicorns Counties Championship by an innings and 183 runs.

They will face the Eastern Division champions in the final on September 6-8.

After Wiltshire’s dismal 92, Oxon posted a first innings total of 359 all out.

Teenager Harvey Eltham (4-13) and Chad Keegan (3-18) then combined as Wiltshire were skittled for just 84.

Ryan said: “We are really proud of the squad, it is a great achievement.

“Our success is down to being able to get our most experienced players on the pitch and that has created a great environment for the younger players.

“We have put in a lot of effort and it is great when it pays off.”

Oxon added 62 runs to their overnight total of 297.

Richard Kaufman made 56, before Keegan and Karl Penhale put on 31 for the tenth wicket until the latter was bowled by Joseph King.

Wiltshire made a disastrous start, with Keegan dismissing Edward Kilbee first ball and Ashur Morrison on his third delivery.

Mike Reynolds and Ed Young put on 34 for the third wicket, but Penhale and Keegan further restricted them to 35-4.

After Eltham dismissed Neil Clark and Patrick Greishaber, the writing was on the wall at 61-6.

Ryan bowled Tahir Afridi and the tail-enders swiftly followed.

Eltham dismissed Young and King, before Jonny Cater stumped Jake Roberts.
